Welcome to our 2010 season

Turkey, the Greek Islands & the Dalmatian Coast

Welcome to our 2010 season. Despite the ups and downs of 2009, most of our tours have been well subscribed and we have had some excellent feedback – for which, many thanks. This has helped us plan a number of new tours. Several tours which have proved popular in the past have been given a new look. Lastly, at your request, we have increased the number and variety of shorter tours.

THE DALMATIAN COAST.  A new one week tour takes us north of Split as far as Skradin, the Krka National Park and the enchanting Kornati archipelago.   We also offer two one-week tours Split/Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik/Split in early summer (but before the main holiday season). Remember that you can get very good deals on direct flights if you book early.

LYCIA. All four tours now include the fascinating Greek island of Castellorizo (ancient Megiste) as well as Patara, one of Lycia’s most seductive sites.  For the two-week tour in May we will have botanist Andrew Brown from Kew. On the short tour in May, Tony Worobiec will offer lessons in digital photography. The short tour in October is designed to coincide with the half-term break.

CARIA features more prominently this year.  Recent  archaeological work at Knidos and Kaunos makes for particularly rewarding visits and we have added some delightful, little- visited sites, such as Amos and Alakilise.

TROY to EPHESUS. Peter Jones, co-founder of Friends of the Classics, is coming with us again and this time will conduct readings from the Iliad. Clients who have visited Ephesus before are offered the alternative of a visit to Magnesia on the Maeander.

We have already reserved gulets for all the brochure tours and, by acting early, we have secured some of the best boats operating out of Bodrum. I know you will be pleased with our choices. All brochure tours in Dalmatia use the Linda, with her delightful Captain Toni and his young crew.
